E-Paper Slap Bracelets

Thursday, January 24, 2008

I can only imagine what the roller rinks of our future will have in-store for our spoiled youth. Back in the dizzay, the slap bracelets at my local rink were usually made of thin piece of aluminum wrapped in fabric. Using the same form, Chocolate Agency came up with a mini multimedia device that snaps on with a slap. The entire surface is E-Paper and possesses all its thin, high contrast, power efficient qualities. The length can be adjusted by adding magnetic snaps to the ends. Best part is there’s no recharging needed. It gets all the power it needs via kinetic energy so go ahead, go slap happy. “I’ll trade you some air hockey tokens and ten glow-sticks for your new fancy slap bracelet?” Can’t believe you said “yes”! Thank you.

Dual Purpose Chinese Bench

Thursday, January 24, 2008

The Chinese bench has always played an important role in the Chinese lifestyle. The bench was used as a resting place and also a place to play games, eat a meal or converse with guests. Yu-Chiao Chang designed her representation of the Chinese bench with traditional Chinese flair, yet also wanted to incorporate a design that would fit the modern desires of today’s society. Dual does use the traditional tongue in groove style of design, yet it can also be transformed into a chair by simply adjusting the parts of the design.
